Of course, this statement may or may not be true. After all, who knows the researchers from Oxford? (LAUGH) One thing is certain, though: creative activities such as painting have a positive effect not only on children, but also on parents, since they spend much more time together. Kids love paints and brushes, pictures, and crafting… I don't need any studies or researchers from Oxford to see how painting and drawing positively affect my daughter!

My favorite time of year is Christmas. Everything sparkles, and gifts in shop windows catch your eye everywhere. But as a responsible parent, I want to give my child more than just a Disney character. I want her to develop her creativity, logical thinking, and cognitive skills. And since I'm a responsible parent, I choose paints that are absolutely suitable for young children, non-toxic, dermatologically tested, free of parabens, gluten, and lactose, and easy to wash out of clothing with soap and water, or in the washing machine at temperatures above 30°C.

My daughter Sofia was excited as soon as she saw the paints and couldn’t wait for me to get everything ready. In my mind, that mainly meant protecting the furniture and clothes from paint (LAUGH). After that, all we needed was a good mood, paper for painting, brushes and paints, with wet wipes close by for quick cleanups.

We decided to paint our Christmas tree for Baby Jesus so he’d know where to put Olaf and the dress for Elsa. As her mom, I helped a little by drawing the outline of the tree and adding the lights. Sofi did everything else herself. We also tried finger painting, which we absolutely loved. The glittery paints seemed to reflect the sparkle in our eyes. Touching the paint and painting is an incredible experience for kids.


Don’t be afraid to get started with creative activities with your kids, and let them paint from an early age. We started using paints and a brush at just 2 years old, and we both love it!
